A new technique has been born to reduce noise in luxury automobiles. Actually, instead of reducing the noise, it doubles it. A microphone is placed in the engine compartment and a computer chip analyses the noise. Then it makes sound waves that are opposite (phase) of what it hears. The reverse waves are played through the car's stereo system, canceling much of the noise in the car.
